Job Details
We're seeking a Tax Staff Accountant with 2-5 years of public accounting experience who enjoys building client relationships just as much as preparing tax returns. This is a highly visible role where you'll work directly with high-net-worth individuals and business owners from the beginning, partnering with multiple managers and partners on a wide variety of tax engagements. Success in this position requires someone who is technically strong, personable, detail-oriented, and comfortable guiding clients through complex tax matters.
Responsibilities Prepare federal and state tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, trusts & estates, and a limited number of C-corporations using Lacerte and CCH tax software. Utilize QuickBooks to support client accounting needs and gather information necessary for tax preparation and year-end reporting. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients by answering questions, explaining tax matters in an approachable manner, and delivering the firm's high-touch, relationship-driven client service. Collaborate directly with multiple partners and managers on sophisticated tax planning projects, including opportunities to gain exposure to international and expatriate taxation, IRS notices, and tax resolution matters. Prepare workpapers and tax returns with a high degree of accuracy and ownership, ensuring work is completed correctly the first time while contributing to a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
What We're Looking For 2-5 years of recent public accounting tax experience. Experience preparing returns for high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and pass-through entities. Proficiency with QuickBooks is required; experience with Lacerte and/or CCH is strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills with a genuine desire to build relationships and work directly with clients. Personable, dependable, and professional with good business judgment ("street smarts") and the confidence to communicate with business owners. Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is highly preferred, particularly candidates with experience responding to IRS notices or assisting with tax resolution. Someone who values accuracy, follows through on commitments, and enjoys working in a collaborative boutique firm where everyone contributes to the client experience.
