Job Summary: The Safety Specialist is responsible for providing daily support to assigned terminal facilities in a geographic region to drive the execution of Health & Safety standards by providing coaching on hazard identification risk assessment, leading incident investigations and prevention recommendations, conducting observations, safety compliance reviews, providing information on safety management systems, and other safety and health tasks. This position will work closely with the operations, engineering & technical services teams, and contractors in efforts to bolster effective performance of safety programs/policies and drive a culture of sustained safety excellence Must be able to maintain a strong working knowledge of a wide variety of safety regulations and issues and performs tasks to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Major Responsibilities: - Review and provide assigned facilities guidance on compliance of regulatory requirements and Company initiatives and standards dealing with health and safety.
- Collect and assess data on safety program effectiveness.
- Instruct and consult on execution of safe work permitting associated with work activities (LTT, Confines Space, Scaffolding, Excavation, Line Breaking, Critical Lifts, Hot Work, & Etc).
- Participate in site audits, inspections, and work with terminal/plant personnel to help address any deficiencies
- Lead project safety reviews using EHS checklist guide to provide documented safety review
- Facilitate the coordination and delivery of safety meetings, safety tours and safety training.
- Assist in the implementation of new safety-related programs and maintenance of safety equipment.
- Monitor daily terminal/plant activities to assist with questions or concerns, address safety concerns and implement acceptable safety practices/conditions.
- Conduct training on Health & Safety programs, procedures, policies and periodically audit for compliance.
- Provide support to industrial hygiene programs, such as noise surveys, personal and continuous atmosphere monitoring, ventilation surveys, or etc.
- Utilize various safety equipment/tools to conduct monitoring and testing to support compliance with company standards
- Foster discussion and feedback from site operational teams on potential safety improvements and safety program initiatives.
- Support the site Emergency Response Team and the Incident Command System.
- Lead safety focused discussions with terminal personnel to discuss various safety topics.
- Involved in daily Job Hazard Analysis of high-risk activities to help ensure safety issues are addressed.
- Work with site leadership in the development of effective Safety Training Programs.
- Participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and assist with resolving action items.
- Conduct periodic safety rounds/audits of major and routine CF team member and contractor work activities at assigned terminals.
- Conduct physical plant safety assessments (audits) on a regular schedule to ensure compliance with CF and regulatory requirements and to develop an understanding of improvement opportunities.
- Assist terminal supervision/management in initiating appropriate controls (engineering, administrative, PPE) to reduce exposures to the lowest levels feasible.
- Support plant/terminal outages, which may include working nights and weekends
- Understand and comply with established processes and procedures designed to support internal controls efforts. Identify and bring to the attention of management internal controls deficiencies.
Position Requirements: - Associate or Bachelor Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, or relevant discipline preferred.
- Requires a minimum of one (1) year relevant safety related work experience in EHS program review, program maintenance, and/or operational field safety support. Two (2) years' experience as a safety professional is desired.
- Experience in a industrial chemical terminal or chemical manufacturing setting.
- Basic knowledge or experience of Process Safety Management (PSM); experience in a PSM regulated facility preferred.
- Knowledge of state, local and U.S. Government regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Exposure to project management and implementation.
- Effective organizational, time management and communication skills.
- Good interpersonal and influential skills.
- Strong computer-related skills.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills.
- Experience in Incident Command (IC) Systems and emergency preparedness/response preferred.
- Travel required at a minimum of 40% of the time to assigned terminals
Estimated base pay for the position is typically between: $68,600 - $90,500 .
The actual base pay for the position may be influenced by factors such as education, training, skills, qualifications, competencies, years of experience, job-related knowledge, and scope of the role, and could be outside of the posted pay range.
